It may sound counter-intuitive, but when we first get on the island, our first
stop isn't the lagoon. Rather, it is the KTA and Costco. They are both on your
way to the house. Stopping there can save you both time and money.
While the houses come stocked with linens and towels, there will not be any food
in the pantry. Groceries are very expensive on the island, and Costco is the
best way to get staples at a reasonable rate. Costco has a great produce
section, and they also stock local brands of wine, (try the local desert wines),
fish, coffee, and macadamia nuts. Remember to get bottled water.
KTA is the local supermarket chain. You can find one on Alii Drive, right in the
center of town. Alternatively, there is another KTA south of town in Keahou.
Take Alii Drive south until it ends at the Keahou shopping center.
