How
far is the house from town?
|
Just
2 miles, close enough to be convenient and far enough to have
some peace and quiet.
|
Do
the kayaks come with the house?
|
No,
we rented them while we were there for the whole week. You can
rent them nearby (see Links) and if you plan to use them all week,
there is a break on price.
|
Are
there board games at the house?
|
Yes,
there are a few board games like Scrabble but some guests have
left some goodies so you never can tell what we have.
|
Can
you launch the kayaks from the property?
|
Even
though these oceanfront vacation homes are perfectly situated
by the sea, please be advised that the sharp rocks, strong currents
and changing tides outside of the lagoon make it difficult to
launch a kayak safely. It is safest to launch kayaks in the marina
in town or in Keahou Bay (Turtle Bay) south of the house about
5 miles.
|
Are
there snorkel masks, boogie boards, and booties at
the house?
|
At
the beach house? Yes and no. Our vacation renters love our homes
so much, they leave us gifts like slippahs, snorkels, fins, and
boogie boards. Other guests times like to collect this beach gear
and take it home when they leave Hawaii. We never can tell what
we have in store when you check-in.
|
Can
you swim in the lagoon? Is it safe
for children?
|
The
lagoon is a naturally protected and the calm waters are perfect
for the turtles to come in and rest. Please be advised that the
lagoon has been home for the green sea turtles for hundreds of
years and that we ask you to not touch them. The oils from your
skin actually destroys their protective coating. Please honor
and respect our "honu", guardian angels by not touching them, feeding
them, or wearing too much sunscreen in the water.
|
Is
it safe to be in the water with the turtles?
|
Yes,
as long as you respect their space as they come to the lagoon
to feed and nap in the sun. Turtles are vegetarians and they have
been around many children.
Because people feed them seaweed in the past, the turtles might
come up to you looking for food. On rare occasions, they have
mistakenly thought a flowery pair of shorts looked like seaweed
and have nipped someone without breaking the skin. The moral of
the story is . . . respect the honu!
Yes, the water is perfect for wading and for small children. If
you are a confident swimmer and enjoys swimming in the open waters,
please be advised of the sharp rocks that exist beyond the sandy
beach.
|
Do
we need to bring beach towels?
|
No, these vacation rentals are well stocked with
linens, towels, and beach towels.
|
Is
there a BBQ grill?
|
Yes,
there is a gas grill at each house so you may enjoy your outdoor
dining and the sunset!
|
How
often do the cleaners come?
|
The
cleaners clean before you arrive and after you leave. If you would
like their visits to be more frequent, we can arrange for the
extra cleaning and you can pay them directly.
